Afterward, the whisky is transferred to Oloroso sherry barrels for an additional 4 years, further enriching its profile with fruity, nutty, and full-bodied characteristics. These sherry casks, imported from Jerez, Spain, contribute a complex and deep flavor to the whisky. The final stage of aging takes place in Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels, where the whisky is finished for one more year. This imparts a distinct sherry sweetness, along with a raisin overtone that complements the earlier layers of flavor.
